JM Partnership have developed considerable knowledge of health care premises over the last 10 years as the Government continues to provide substantial funding in this area of the construction market. A significant number of the surveyors the company employs have experience in dealing with major hospital redevelopments as well as new and refurbished Nursing and Care Homes.
Health Care buildings require a specialist knowledge of HTM codes which provides a different philosophy for means of escape and compartmentation to the requirements within the Approved Document B of the Building Regulations. There is currently a working relationship with the Royal Surrey County Hospital which is undergoing an expansion of its services now and for the next 5 years. Many of the healthcare projects have required consideration of alternative and far reaching approaches to design where security and means of escape requirements can be conflicting. This was particularly the case for two medium and high secure mental health units that were constructed in Basildon and Woolwich.
The variety of work in this field of the construction industry has included a large number of Nursing and residential Care Homes through a close relationship with a Local Architects practice specialising in these types of premises.
